Once again sir, you have HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD with a BBQ review! My wife, a good friend and I went to Falls River Smokehouse tonight for dinner(since we missed the BBQ cook off at the fair gounds today, overslept and WAAAY TOO HOT out) all three of use ordered the Combo platter with 3 different meats. We tried the BBQ chicken, the beef brisket, the ribs and of course the pulled pork. Mac 'n cheese, Collards, cracklin cornbread, potato salad, brunswick stew. I am a pulled pork/chopped pork kinda guy BUT at Falls River the Beef brisket got me, this was the best beff brisket I have ever had, my wife's favorite was the pulled pork. Our trip there was basically to make up for the horrible IN MY OPINION experience at The Pit, the pulled pork ws dry and tasteless there , the Beef Brisket had the weirdest texture and taste ever to me , however the RIBS were to DIE FOR IMO. But anyways Falls River made up by having GREAT Pulled pork and beef brisket! Of course we tried the Krispy Kreme bread pudding which was extra sweet but good. We spent well over an hour just talking to the owner Vernon Griffin, a great and friendly guy who seems to have been everywhere I have ever lived or visited. Vernon really made us feel at home and we will definitely be going back often. His restaurant is 26 minutes from us but well worth the trip maybe weekly for us :) Kent, I take your BBQ reviews seriously and so far you have been DEAD ON on each restaurant. We tried Dillards also and they are wonderful and friendly people over there, the BBQ was GREAT though we did not enjoy the Hushpuppies and mac n cheese THOUGH the RIbs were great nd the turnip greens were wonderful! I am still trying to get to a few more of the Durham BBQ spots and I will email and send reviews when i do . Thanks As Always, Terry Rusch |
